“I know Marrakech well, and I chose this apartment for its exceptional location. In the heart of Gueliz, a stone’s throw from the city’s main attractions, restaurants, cafés, shops and cultural landmarks — an ideal base for your stay.”

The neighbourhood

Gueliz, the new town of Marrakech

Marrakech’s new town is a contrast to the medina: wide avenues, café terraces and concept stores.

01

On foot

Restaurants, cafés and shops on Avenue Mohammed V and Avenue Mohammed VI, a few minutes’ walk away.

02

Where to eat

Less than 2 minutes’ walk away, small neighbourhood spots for breakfast or a meal with all the local specialities — lentils, beans, tagines, couscous — at very affordable prices.

03

Gardens, tennis & Hivernage

The beautiful El Harti Gardens and the Royal Tennis Club de Marrakech are a 3-minute walk away. A few hundred metres further, Hivernage with its fine residences, its elegant bars and oriental-themed evenings — such as at Palais Jad Mahal or Le Comptoir Darna — its wide avenues where horse-drawn carriages still roll by, and the Casino de Marrakech (Es Saadi), which regularly hosts international poker tournaments.

04

Art galleries & crafts

The apartment is surrounded by galleries of all kinds — Galerie des Tanneurs, Galerie Birkemeyer and its leatherwork, Galerie Bertrand — perfect for a stroll combining shopping and culture right on your doorstep. A little further, about 15 minutes on foot, is the legendary Majorelle Garden.

05

Towards the medina

The medina and Jemaa el-Fna are a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute taxi ride away, so you can switch between buzz and calm.

06

Landmarks

A stone’s throw from Carré Eden Shopping Center, between restaurants (McDonald’s, Beldi Fusion Kitchen, Restaurant Azar) and well-known hotels (Imperial Holiday, Swiss Continental) — an easy area to find, even on a first trip to Marrakech.

07

More ideas

Fancy a moment of well-being? Enjoy a hammam and spa in an authentic riad in the Marrakech medina. Or go and discover the Majorelle Garden, the Yves Saint Laurent villa and their famous Majorelle blue.

08

On site

The exact address is shared once your booking is confirmed, for your peace of mind.

Plenty for lovely outings on foot, by day or in the evening, without ever straying far from the terrace.

Frequently asked questions

Everything guests ask us before booking

Practicalities, safety, transport: answers to the questions travellers ask most before a stay in Gueliz.

Is Gueliz a safe neighbourhood in Marrakech?

Yes. Gueliz is the new town of Marrakech, calmer and more residential than the medina, with a good reputation for safety both by day and in the evening. It is a neighbourhood popular with expats and with travellers on a first visit, before they go and discover the bustle of the medina.

How to get from Marrakech airport to the apartment: bus or taxi?

Two simple options. Bus no. 19 leaves the airport roughly every 30 minutes, from 6:15am to 9:30pm: a ticket costs 30 dirhams (about €3), or 50 dirhams return, paid in cash to the driver. Get off at the train station: the apartment is a 5-minute walk away. By taxi, allow about 15 minutes: at the airport exit, a single counter sells fixed-price rides, paid in advance, around 100 to 120 dirhams during the day and a little more at night (the exact fare is displayed at the counter). Remember to change a little money as soon as you reach the baggage hall. The exact address is sent to you on WhatsApp after booking.

Can you drink the tap water?

Tap water in Marrakech is treated and officially safe to drink: residents and regular visitors to Morocco drink it routinely. For a short stay, however, we recommend bottled water to travellers who are not used to it, while they adjust. It is widely available in the shops just steps from the apartment.

When is the best time to visit Marrakech?

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) offer the most pleasant temperatures. Summer can be very hot; winter stays mild during the day but cool in the evening. With its large picture windows, the apartment is bright and well ventilated, and the air conditioning and heating keep it comfortable in every season.

Which currency should I use, and do I need cash?

The currency is the Moroccan dirham (MAD). You can’t really buy it before you leave: it is a currency you get once in Morocco. And cash is still essential in Marrakech: petits taxis, the airport bus, the souks, small neighbourhood eateries, tips and some monuments are paid in cash.

The best option is to bring euros in banknotes. At the airport, change just enough to pay for your transfer, then the rest at a bureau de change in Gueliz, where the rate is often better. Keep your exchange receipt so you can convert your remaining dirhams back when you leave.

A bank card is still useful for withdrawing cash from the many ATMs in Gueliz, or for paying in supermarkets and shopping centres. Watch out for fees, though: outside the eurozone, a standard bank card often charges a commission of around 2 to 3% per payment, plus a fixed fee on every withdrawal. Cards with no foreign transaction fees, such as those from neobanks or some premium cards, cost little or nothing. In any case, always choose to pay in dirhams rather than euros.

Is the WiFi reliable enough for remote work?

Yes, the apartment has a fibre connection and a dedicated workspace — several guests have already worked remotely here without any problems during their stay.

Can I live as a digital nomad from this apartment?

Yes, absolutely. The apartment regularly welcomes this kind of guest — freelancers, remote employees, digital nomads passing through Marrakech — thanks to a stable fibre connection and a dedicated workspace, designed to go the distance over several days or weeks. For example, one guest who came to work for more than a week confirmed an “excellent and absolutely reliable” connection throughout her stay (see the reviews). Between the desk indoors and the terrace for a change of scene without leaving the network, it is a setting designed for alternating focused work sessions with breaks in the sun.

Are there restaurants and shops nearby?

Yes, the apartment is a few minutes’ walk from Carré Eden Shopping Center, Avenue Mohammed V and Avenue Mohammed VI, and several restaurants and cafés — a lively area that is convenient for everyday life.

Are there convenience stores or supermarkets near the apartment?

Yes, many small shops, convenience stores and supermarkets are just steps from the apartment. With complete independence — a fully equipped kitchen and space to cook — you can eat and drink exactly as you like: excellent fruit and vegetables, as well as meat, at really low prices.

Do we need a marriage certificate to book as a couple?

No, only valid ID (passport or ID card) is required. See all the details for a couple’s stay in Gueliz.

Can I book the apartment for just one night?

Yes, the apartment can be rented by the night, and several of our reviews mention one-night stays. Depending on the period, a minimum stay may apply: we will confirm this on WhatsApp as soon as you enquire.

Do you offer weekly or monthly rentals?

Yes, the apartment can be rented for one night just as well as for a week, two weeks or a full month — ideal for long-term remote work. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates for a rate tailored to the length of your stay.

How much does a week’s rental in this Marrakech apartment cost?

Expect from around €350 for a week (7 nights), based on a rate from €50 (or 550 MAD) per night. The fully equipped kitchen helps cut your food budget over time, a real advantage for a full week on site.

Studio or apartment: which to choose for a stay in Marrakech?

A studio puts all the rooms in a single space, whereas this apartment has a bedroom separate from the living room, plus a private terrace — more comfortable as soon as your stay goes beyond a few nights, whether alone, as a couple or in a small group.

What are the check-in/check-out times, and the price per night?

Check-in is from 3:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am. The rate is from €50 (or 550 MAD) per night.

How can I arrange my arrival easily?

For booking, everything happens on WhatsApp: dates, arrival and practical questions are sorted out directly with the host. We are responsive and attentive to our guests, both before and during the stay. Depending on your arrival time, you are welcomed in person or you collect the keys from a key box, with all the instructions sent on WhatsApp.

How many people can sleep in the apartment?

Up to 3 guests: a double bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. Bed linen and towels are provided.

Can we come with children or a baby?

Yes, children and babies are welcome, up to a maximum of 3 guests in total, babies included.

What is the cancellation policy?

More than 30 days before arrival, the stay is refunded, minus a €50 fee. From 30 to 14 days before, 50% is refunded. Less than 14 days before, no refund is possible.

How does payment work?

Everything is settled directly with the host, on WhatsApp, then by bank transfer before arrival. No platform commission.

Does the building have a lift?

Yes. The apartment is on the 5th and top floor, served by the lift from the 1st floor: only the first floor is reached on foot.

Can I park near the apartment?

The apartment has no parking, but you can park on the street. In any case, the station, shops and restaurants are a few minutes’ walk away.

Are pets allowed?

No, pets are not allowed in the apartment.

Can I smoke in the apartment?

No, the apartment is non-smoking. Smoking is allowed on the terrace only.

What languages does the host speak?

French, English and Arabic. In writing on WhatsApp, we reply in any language.

Can you haggle in the souks from Gueliz?

Haggling is common and expected in the souks of the medina, a short ride from the apartment. It is not the custom, however, in Gueliz shops, which have fixed prices.

How long does it take to get to the Koutoubia and Jemaa el-Fna square?

About 20 minutes on foot, heading down Avenue Mohammed V to the Koutoubia: Jemaa el-Fna square is just behind it. By petit taxi, allow 5 minutes. An easy way to alternate between the calm of Gueliz and the bustle of the medina.

Is the apartment close to Marrakech train station?

Yes, the ONCF train station is about a 5-minute walk away. If you arrive by train from Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier or Fes, you can walk to the apartment, no taxi needed.

Is the apartment close to the Supratours station in Marrakech?

Yes, about a 7-minute walk: the Supratours bus station is just behind the train station. Its coaches serve Essaouira and Merzouga, among other destinations. The CTM bus station is about ten minutes’ walk away.

Is the Majorelle Garden far from the apartment?

No, the Majorelle Garden and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum are about 15 minutes on foot, or 5 minutes by taxi. Remember to book your ticket online.

Are there shopping centres near the apartment?

Yes. Carré Eden, with its supermarket, and Plaza Gueliz, on Place du 16-Novembre, are less than 5 minutes' walk away. Menara Mall is about 20 minutes on foot, or 5 minutes by taxi.

Why does a terrace matter so much for a stay in Marrakech?

Because in Marrakech, real life often happens outdoors, once the sun has gone down. The city's traditional architecture — riads and the medina — turns its back on the street and closes its thick walls around an inner courtyard: historically, the terrace (the "settah") was the only part of the house open to the sky, an open-air living room, a sun deck, a dining room under the stars. This apartment carries on that spirit: unlike most homes in the city, which look inwards, it opens wide to the outside, so you can live Gueliz's mild evenings rather than watch them through a window.

Are apartments with a real terrace common in Marrakech?

No, quite the opposite. Most buildings in Marrakech, even recent ones, stay true to inward-looking architecture, with small balconies rather than real terraces. Yet the climate is perfect for it: spring and autumn around 28 °C with mild evenings, and summers when the cool only returns after sunset. More and more travellers are looking for exactly this kind of place, open to the outside, to make the most of these evenings rather than stay shut indoors — and a good-sized private terrace like this apartment's is still a real rarity in the city.

What makes this location special, between the very centre and a quiet street?

It is the rarest combination to find in Marrakech: being in the beating heart of central Gueliz — a few minutes' walk from Carré Eden, Mohammed V and Mohammed VI avenues, restaurants, cafés and galleries — while sleeping on a quiet residential street, away from the traffic and the night-time bustle. Most central addresses in the city make you pay for proximity with noise; quiet streets, on the other hand, often mean taking a taxi for everything. Here you get both: everything is within walking distance by day, and it is calm both indoors and on the terrace, at any hour — the perfect balance for an unforgettable stay.
